Mars At Opposition 2003

- Four photos of Mars captured on video tape via a JVC camcorder, a Celestron 8" f/10 SC Telescope equipped with a 17mm eyepiece at 117x magnification which was then zoomed in another 10x magnification via the camcorder's zoom control.

- The photos were taken on August 24, 2003, 1:00am, from New York City.

- Visible is Mars' southern polar cap, the Mare Erythraeum terrain on the left, the massive Valles Marineris Valley, the Solis Planum terrain, which is the dark, oval patch at center, and the Mare Sirenum terrain on the right.
